Mabel- Mid-term Project

-every day every night-

my photo narrative project consists of two parts.
one is 1200 while the other one is 0000.

the inspiration is actually from the fact that i'm kind of a "night person" and i know many:P and i believe we are not minorities in hong kong. i usually feel tired and sleepy during the day.. while, at nighttime, i become more energitic:) another feature i found about the typical night person is that s/he wakes up very late (usually around 1200) because s/he doesn't go to bed til 4/5am.. in other words, the morning for a night person actually starts at 1200.

1200 covers the 6 photographs taken around the time in which a night person wakes up. they are the things a night person could probably see or encounter once s/he is awake. (just like me...)

0000 is compressed of 6 photographs which capture the "nightlife" of me as a night person. not that very very typical so-called "nightlife" (drinking and partying in disco or bar or something like that), but i bet all of you actually have the same kind of experience if you have once in your life hung out at the street late at night...

it's actually my everyday life :)
is it yours too?

  1. the idea is actually very nice and it can show the type of person you are (night cat) and the world you are experiencing. Most of shots are also nicely taken too. But the meaning is not so clear without your oral presentation, though I don't find the subjective expression problematic. My suggest, as stated in the class, is to put the pictures of 12:00 and 00:00 into pairs like Lam wai kit: http://thehousenews.com/gaze/%E7%A7%BB%E5%BD%A2%E6%8F%9B%E5%BD%B1/
when you pair up the pictures, the "differences" or the "similarity" may give more cue but at the same time imagination to the audiences over the theme. For example, the picture of the person sleeping at 12:00 may pair up with a wide shot of a building with some units light out. I guess having this pair-up format in mind can also broaden your images for each time slot too. I think you can keep up doing this, may be you can get it publish some time when it is mature enough. add oil
